Mt. Penn Fire Company

Alsace Structure Fire

On April 2 shortly after 10:30a.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched as the RIT company to assist on a reported structure fire at 198 Heckman Rd.  First arriving units from Laureldale(Co13) and Muhlenberg(Co’s 10 & 11) found a well involved garage fire with extension to the house.  A second alarm was struck by command for additional tankers for water supply and the R1 crew was directed to assist with fire suppression.  Additional lines were stretched and the crews got to work pulling ceilings and walls.  Due to the quick work of the first arriving units the fire was held to the garage with some extension into the kitchen.  The entire house had heavy smoke damage.  Units were able to begin clearing just before noon.  The exact cause remains under investigation by the PSP Fire Marshall.
