Daylight savings time ends-Check your batteries!

mtpennlogo

This weekend daylight savings time will come to an end at 2a.m on Sunday, November 6.  While you are changing all of the clocks in your house back one hour we ask that you also change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.  It seems like a small thing but having fresh batteries ensures that you and your family can get the early warning they need in the event of a fire or carbon monoxide problem.  It is also a good time, in keeping with this year’s fire prevention theme of “Don’t wait, check the date”, to check the date of manufacture on these devices.  If they are more than 10 years old they should be replaced immediately in order to provide proper functioning.  A little bit of preventative maintenance now could prevent a tragedy!
