Mt. Penn Fire Company

Mid-week woes

Wednesday morning started off just before 6:50a.m. when Mt. Penn and Lower Alsace(Co4) were dispatched for a crash with unknown injuries at S. 21st St. & Perkiomen Ave.  Arriving crews found 1 vehicle that had struck 2 poles & several street signs.  The driver was not injured.  Crews powered down the vehicle and controlled fluids down.  Met-Ed was notified about the pole damage and wires.  Crews were able to clear shortly before 8a.m.

We weren’t done yet.  Just after 1p.m. both companies were dispatched to the 400 block of Friedensburg Rd. for a reported dumpster fire.  Dep 1-1 (Eisenhard) arrived & confirmed a smoldering fire contained in a dumpster.  Contractors on location had it knocked down with a garden hose.  Once the engine arrived crews used 1 line to complete extinguishment then overhauled the contents to ensure the fire was out.  Crews were able to clear by 1:30p.m.
