Mt. Penn Fire Company

Reading 120 Bike Race

On Saturday, September 12 the fire company, along with several other agencies and volunteers provided assistance for the Reading 120 Bike Race which wound it’s way from the City of Reading, through Mt. Penn and onwards through many other areas of Berks County before finishing with multiple climbs on a loop from the city to the top of Mt. Penn.  Apparatus and personnel were stationed at various intersections to provide traffic control and assistance as needed.  Fortunately the weather held out for the Mt. Penn part of the race but soon after the racers had passed through it began to rain steadily which continued for the rest of the race.  No major mishaps were reported during this grueling race and we would like to congratulate Daniel Summerhill of the United Healthcare Team on his 1st place finish in 4:45:21!
