Rescue assists Lower Alsace on gas leak

MtPennLA

On July 21 at 9:14p.m. Rescue 1 was dispatched to assist Lower Alsace (Co4) for a reported odor of natural gas at 850 Carsonia Ave, Antietam Arms Apartments Building F.  Arriving units found a strong gas odor and high levels of carbon monoxide in the building and began evacuating the residents.  Deputy 4-1 (Mountz) requested one additional truck to the scene for assistance which was handled by Tower 25 (Exeter).  After an extensive search the problem was traced to a faulty stove in a third floor apartment.  The gas line was secured and the building ventilated as the scene was turned over to UGI.  Companies returned shortly after 10p.m.
