Most of us have become accustomed to the delays, detours and stop and go traffic in the past months around town because of the ongoing construction projects. Although tempers and patience have run short at times we have noticed a slight problem that is showing up from time to time….BLOCKING THE BOX! If you have been to Baltimore, New York or Philadelphia you have seen signs and lines painted at intersections about this. The concept is simple if you think of an intersection as a box that you can’t get into. Pay attention as you make your way around and if you see traffic stopping or slowing plan to stop BEFORE entering the intersection. By simply doing this you allow cross traffic to move and, in the event an emergency vehicle is approaching, this will allow it a better chance to maneuver or make a turn. We have a year of construction left so let’s be patient and careful out there.
