Time for………………………….SCHOOL!

WOW!  What happened to summer?  It seems like just a few minutes ago the kids couldn’t wait for the end of the school year and here it is, time to go back.  The Antietam School District has scheduled the start of the new year for Tuesday, August 28th.

The crew at Mt. Penn has been kept busy over the summer with all sorts of things like National Night Out, routine maintenance on the station and trucks, training and quite a few calls.  In fact, July was our busiest single month so far this year with 55 calls!

As we get ready to send the kids back to school SAFETY remains very important!  Road construction in the boro, as well as surrounding areas, is still underway.  Of course this causes detours and backlogged traffic.  Central Berks Regional Police are working with PennDot to keep things flowing as smoothly as possible.   That being said, there will be additional traffic, vehicle and pedestrian, in the area as school begins.  Please pay attention to signs, weather conditions, detours and your surroundings so problems can be avoided.  Observe the posted speed limits as the detours run through residential areas that are not accustomed to the heavier traffic.  We don’t want to meet you by accident!
