Goodwill dumpster fire

On September 7th just before 2:30p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched along with several other companies to assist Exeter (Co25) on a reported structure fire at the Goodwill Industries, 3001 St. Lawrence Ave.  Additional information from County indicated a dumpster fire.  Arriving units quickly confirmed a working compactor/dumpster fire at one end of the building.  One line was stretched into the interior to prevent extension while another line was readied to extinguish the dumpster.  Crews used a chain come-along to move the dumpster away from the compactor so that the end door could be opened.  Once this was done the fire was quickly knocked down while excess trash was removed in order to completely extinguish the fire.  The dumpster was then hauled away by the facilities trash contractor.  Units were able to clear within an hour.
