
Shortly after 5a.m. on July 21st, Mt. Penn was dispatched as the RIT to assist Blandon, Fleetwood and Muhlenberg on a reported structure fire at 194 Genesis Dr. in Maidencreek Township. Police reported a working fire on the second floor with all occupants out as the first units were leaving station. As units arrived they confirmed heavy fire and smoke and immediately went to work. As searches began, several lines were pulled and the roof opened up for ventilation. Firefighters were able to find and successfully rescue the family dog as EMS called for additional units to treat several occupants for smoke inhalation. The fire was knocked down until Mt. Penn arrived so they were put to work assisting with final extinguishment and overhaul. The cause of this fire is under investigation but is believed to be accidental. Units were able to begin clearing the scene by 6:30a.m.
