Mt. Penn Fire Company

Another Mt. Penn wreck

On April 24th just after 5p.m. Mt. Penn and Lower Alsace(Co4) were dispatched along with EMS to the 2400 block of Perkiomen Ave. for a vehicle vs pole crash. Arriving units found a white SUV that had completely sheared a pole and came to rest on the sidewalk across from the Turkey Hill store. There were live wires down as well. Fortunately the occupant was able to exit the vehicle and was not injured. The road was closed and fire police assisted with diverting traffic around the scene. Once Met-Ed arrived the incident was turned over to them so repairs could be made. Units were able to begin clearing the scene shortly after 6p.m. Central Berks Regional Police are investigating.
