Another run to Turkey Hill

mtpennlogo

On April 13th just after 5p.m. Mt. Penn and Lower Alsace were dispatched to the Turkey Hill at 2450 Perkiomen Ave. in the boro for a haz-mat reported as a gas pump struck.  This is the third call there since mid January with one being a dumpster fire and the other a vehicle through the front store window. Chief 1 (Waldman) arrived and quickly reduced the call to Rescue 1 only.  A vehicle had struck and severely damaged one of the fuel pumps and then left the scene.  Fortunately the automatic shutoffs worked exactly as designed so only about 1 gallon of fuel was spilled from the pumps. Crews contained the fuel and secured the power to the pump and returned to station within 20 minutes.
