Mt. Penn Fire Company

Assist to Exeter on Structure Fire

On October 12th, just before noon Mt. Penn was dispatched, along with several other companies to 271 Shelbourne Rd. in Exeter Township for a reported structure fire. First arriving units had heavy smoke showing from the eaves with fire eventually venting out of the rear of the building. Multiple lines were pulled and additional tankers dispatched as the nearest hydrant was over 1000 feet away. Fortunately all occupants were able to safely evacuate. Additional units from Mt. Penn and other companies were dispatched for extra manpower as it is often limited during the middle of the day. The fire was placed under control within an hour but units remained on scene until after 2p.m. performing extensive overhaul. The exact cause of this fire remains under investigation.
