On November 1 just after 12:30p.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched, along with several other companies to the 200 block of Schuylkill Rd. in Birdsboro for a working structure fire with possible entrapment. First arriving units had heavy smoke and fire showing from the structure and fortunately, all occupants accounted for. Several lines were pulled as units made a primary search to confirm everybody was out. L1 was tasked with opening the roof for ventilation and assisting on the interior with pulling ceilings and walls to find hidden pockets of fire. Unfortunately some pets did not make it out but others were saved and attended to by EMS. The fire was not placed under control until approximately an hour later with extensive overhaul needed due to the balloon frame construction. Units were able to begin clearing the scene shortly before 3p.m. This fire remains under investigation by the Borough and State Police Fire Marshal’s office.
