On April 10th just before 1p.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched, along with several other companies to the 1400 block of Schoffer’s Rd. in Exeter for a reported structure fire. Arriving units found a well involved residential structure with smoke and fire showing. Personnel could only work from the exterior as the building was already compromised with parts of the structure already failing and falling into the yard. More tankers were quickly called for as this area lacks any fire hydrants. Access to and around the building was slowed by the cluttered conditions that existed. Crews used several hand lines along with the master stream from Tower 25 to extinguish the fire with it being placed under control by 2p.m. Units were able to begin clearing the scene shortly before 3p.m. Unfortunately the home is a total loss. The cause of this fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
