On April 21 shortly after 3p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched to respond with the spill trailer to 56 Edge Hill Rd. in Douglass Township. A while earlier several companies were dispatched for a reported structure fire at that address. A large garage had become involved due to a controlled burn that got out of hand. The structure fire would go to 2 alarms with a separate call for a brush response as the fire extended into the woods behind the garage. It turned out that the garage was heated with waste oil which was stored in multiple drums outside that became compromised from the heat of the fire and large quantities of oil mixed in with runoff water. Crews deployed containment booms and then applied oil absorbent pads to soak up the oil. Mt. Penn was able to clear just before 6p.m.
