Mt. Penn Fire Company

Lower Alsace Structure Fire

On January 19, just after 1:30p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched along with several other companies to assist Lower Alsace(Co4) on a reported structure fire at 500 Spring Ave. in the township. Deputy 4-1(Mountz) reported smoke showing from High St. & Carsonia Ave. and on arrival corrected the address to 516 Fountain Ave. with a working structure fire. Fortunately everybody was able to safely escape, including the family dog. Arriving units were limited in access due to the narrow and steep streets so much of the equipment was moved up to the house by hand. 2 lines were pulled to extinguish this fire which involved the first and second floors. After extinguishing the fire and checking for further extension units were able to begin clearing the scene by 3:30p.m. This fire remains under investigation by the Township and PA State Police Fire Marshal.
