Mt. Penn Thursday Night

Well we stayed local for Thursday with a crash and car fire.

Just after 5p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched, along with Lower Alsace(Co4) & Lower Alsace EMS(Squad555) to the intersection of Perkiomen Avenue & S. 27th St. for a vehicle crash with unknown injuries. On arrival 2 cars were found with one having been pushed up over the curb and against a wall. Minor fluids were handled and one driver was evaluated for a hand injury by EMS. Units stood by until the tow company was able to separate them and haul them away just before 6p.m. Other than the cars, the stop sign was the only other major casualty and will have to be replaced. Please exercise extra caution at this intersection until the road crew is able to make necessary repairs!

Later on and shortly before 9:30p.m. the same units as above were dispatched to Cumberland Avenue & N. 25th St. for a reported vehicle fire. Deputy 1-1(Kline) arrived first and reported a fully involved vehicle. On arrival the engine crew pulled 1 line to extinguish the fire. The incident was placed under control 4 minutes later with crews remaining on scene to assist the tow company with vehicle removal. The Fire Marshal determined the cause to be electrical in nature. All units were cleared of the scene shortly after 10p.m.
