Mt. Penn Fire Company

Neversink Brush Fire

On June 30 about 1:15p.m. Mt. Penn was dispatched, along with several other companies, to assist Cumru Township (Co42) with a reported brush fire on the Schuylkill River side of Neversink Mountain. The location was not pinpointed until units arrived although smoke was visible from multiple locations. Units worked from Klapperthal Junction as well as S. 9th St. and Forest Hills areas for several hours to bring the fire, located on a steep & rocky part of the hill, under control. Units began clearing shortly after 5p.m. while a state forestry crew worked through the night extinguishing remaining fire and performing overhaul. While Mt. Penn was on this call Fleetwood (Co45) relocated to our station to stand by.
