Reading City 2nd Alarm

On August 13th, just after 4:30p.m. Engine 1 was dispatched, along with several other county companies to assist Reading City on a 2nd alarm structure fire in the 300 block of N. 9th St. The first arriving units had heavy fire in multiple garages along Cedar St. with extension to the rear of several homes along N. 9th St. and command quickly struck the second alarm as multiple 2 1/2 lines were placed in service to knock down the large amount of fire. County units assisted with stretching additional hose lines, ventilation, search and overhaul. Several garages were completely destroyed and at least 3 homes suffered serious damage making them uninhabitable. County units were able to begin clearing the scene shorty after 6p.m. The cause of this fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.

Penn Fire Company is to protect the lives and property of the people of Mt Penn from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing Rescue services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a 100% Volunteer work environment that values health, wellness and cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
