Robeson Township Structure Fire

On September 23rd just after 3:30p.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched, along with several other companies to assist Robeson Township (Co’s 23 &24) for a reported structure fire at 12 Formstone Rd. Initial reports indicated a working fire in a vehicle repair garage which was quickly confirmed by PD and responding units who were able to see the smoke from several miles away. L1 was to be the RIT company but command stood them down before they arrived as all initial help was needed to pull several lines to contend with the structure fire and the several vehicles parked in close proximity that were also on fire. Crews initially worked off of tank water and tanker trucks until Rescue 23 laid 1,500 ft of supply line from the nearest hydrant to establish a continuous water supply. The fire was placed under control about 2 hours after dispatch although crews remained on the scene for several more hours extinguishing hot spots and continuing overhaul. L1 was able to clear shortly before 7p.m. Unfortunately the building is a total loss. This fire is under investigation by the PA State Police Fire Marshal.
