Mt. Penn Fire Company

Saturday around town

It’s been an eventful Saturday.  We started out attending the Home Depot Safety Day Kids Workshop along with Exeter, Gibralter, Monocacy, Lower Alsace, Birdsboro and Geigertown fire companies as well as the Reading Scuba Team.  The turnout was excellent and this year the weather cooperated as well.  Firefighters were on hand to answer questions about the apparatus and also made the rounds of the tables where the kids were assembling their firehouse banks.   Crews returned from this event just after noon.  Thanks to the Exeter Home Depot for inviting us!

Shortly after returning Mt. Penn and Lower Alsace (Co4) were dispatched for a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle at 22nd St. & Howard Blvd. in Mt. Penn.  Crews tended to one person with minor injuries until EMS arrived and transported them to the hospital to be evaluated.  Crews were able to clear within 20 minutes.

Later in the afternoon we got the news that firefighters Timothy Eisenhard and Sean Miller had returned from the training site, having completed and passed the 4th and final module of Essentials of Fire Fighting.  This course gives personnel the basic information and knowledge they need in order to work as firefighters in and around a burning building.  GREAT JOB GUYS!
