Structure fire assist to Exeter

Shortly before 7p.m. on December 7 the ladder was dispatched with several other companies to assist on a possible structure fire, reported dryer fire at 3819 Perkiomen Ave.  Arriving crews at the house, which is behind Heck Bros. Florist, found heavy smoke and visible fire on the C side of the building and pulled one line.  Other arriving crews pulled a second line, placed ground ladders and began ventilation of the heavy smoke.  The fire was knocked down in 5 minutes but extensive overhaul of the laundry room was needed.  The rest of the house suffered extensive smoke and heat damage which prevented the occupants from returning so the Red Cross was notified for assistance.  Units were able to begin clearing the scene shortly after 8p.m.
