It doesn’t seem possible that October is already gone and November is knocking on the door. This weekend it’s time to reset the clocks BACK one hour before you go to bed Saturday night as daylight savings time comes to an end. Before you go to bed remember to take a few minutes and change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. When you are done give the test button a push to make sure they are working correctly.
It’s also a great time of the year to have your heating system cleaned and inspected to ensure proper operation which includes having the chimney looked at to be sure it is clean and not blocked with any debris. There are many of you who also burn wood so make sure that fireplace is clean and functional as well.
Please remember that if your smoke or carbon monoxide detector goes off, evacuate the premises and call 911. The fire department will come out and check everything out. Don’t wait! It may not be anything serious but it is much better to be safe than sorry.
