Tuesday around Town………….Again

Tuesday the 26th was a beautiful day to be out and about and drive around a bit which is just what we did.  Just before 5p.m. the rescue was dispatched for manpower to assist Geigertown(Co24) with a serious crash on Route 10 at Chestnut Hill Rd.  Rescue 7(Birdsboro) and Rescue 72(Brecknock) were also on the call along with Gibralter(Co 23).  Two pickup trucks had collided head on and both drivers were heavily trapped.  Once they were extricated they were rushed to RHMC for treatment.  The rescue was able to clear about 5:30p.m.

Crews were taking advantage of the nice weather and training outside on hoselines when the engine and ladder were dispatched to assist Exeter(Co25) on a possible structure fire at 4681 Mays Ave.  It was quickly determined that an electrical short had caused some heat and smoke around an outlet.  Power was secured and units were able to clear within 20 minutes.

At 9:45p.m. we were dispatched along with Lower Alsace(Co4),  Exeter(Co25), Oley(Co5), Reading City and Birdsboro(Co7) to 332 Carsonia Ave. in Mt. Penn for a reported structure fire with fire visible in the kitchen.  On arrival Captain 1(Lombardo) confirmed a fire in the kitchen.  Arriving units pulled a preconnected line but it was not needed as this grease fire was quickly contained and extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher.  Most of the damage was to the sink and surrounding counter area.  Crews checked for extension and vented the smoke from the residence.  Units were able to clear by 10:15p.m.
