Vehicle Crash in Township

September started off with the Rescue being dispatched at 2p.m. to assist Lower Alsace (Co4) for a reported vehicle crash with entrapment in front of Orth’s Towing at 800 Carsonia Ave.  A small pickup truck ran into and under the back of a large box truck parked curbside.  Arriving crews found the driver had self extricated but was saying somebody else was in the vehicle.  A tow truck was used to slowly pull the vehicles apart and the Amkus rescue tools were used to remove the roof and door so that crews could check.  No second victim was located.  The driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.  Crews were able to clear shortly after 3p.m.  This crash remains under investigation by Central Berks Regional Police.
